Going away to college can be one of the most exciting times in a young adults life and a day that parents never forgot. Packing, shopping for college and decorating a dorm are often given a lot of time and attention with little to no thoughts about personal security and crime prevention.
1-in-5 women will be the victim of a sexual assault or attempted sexual assault during her college career according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Most sexual assaults are committed by someone the victim knows or trusts like a boyfriend, friend or a friend of a friend, etc.
